Helston Community Hospital

Visitors to the ward at Helston Community Hospital are welcome 2.30pm and 5pm in the afternoon and between 6pm and 8pm in the evening, with protected mealtimes between 12pm and 2pm and again between 5pm and 6pm.

There are a small number of items which we recommend you bring with you to make your stay more comfortable.

The hospital also offers a day hospital facility which hosts various clinics, groups and services such as blood transfusion.

The minor injury unit is run by specialist, highly trained nurses who are available to treat minor ailments. If you are unsure whether you can be treated at a minor injury unit, NHS 111 is available to provide advice. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances the Minor Injury Unit will close at 3pm on Monday 2 October 2017.

Outpatient clinics are provided from the hospital. Your appointment letter will detail any requirements, but please contact us if you have a query.

Physiotherapy outpatient drop in clinics are held between 8.30am and 10.30am Monday to Thursday

Redruth Walk-in Centre (Minor Injurys Unit)

The unit is run by highly skilled specialist nurses and are able to treat a range of minor conditions. There is also a primary care centre where a GP will be available. If you are unsure whether a GP is available, we advise you to call the unit.  

Nursing staff available 8am to 10pm 7 days per week.

Minor Injury Units (MIUs) treat a range of minor conditions, which have occurred during the previous  14 days from injury, including X-ray if appropriate.

• Sprains and strains
• Broken bones
• Traumatic wound infections (not surgical wounds)
• Minor burns and scalds
• Head injuries (where the person has not been unconscious)
• Insect and animal bits and stings
• Minor eye injuries, and
• Cuts, bruising and grazes.

If you are not sure whether your injury is minor and can be treated in a minor injuries unit, contact NHS 111.
