Here, diners will find a menu that blends classic dishes with culinary innovation to mouth-watering effect. We whetted our appetites with seared mackerel fillet with pickled cucumber, sweet soy, lemon and rock salt, which tasted as fresh as it sounds. Jack’s Cheese on Toast featured slow-roasted tomatoes and the tastiest red onion marmalade, transforming a classic British snack into something gorgeously gastro.
From a menu offering the likes of salmon with sambuca sauce, a fresh fish and seafood plate and 10oz gammon steak, I plumped for pan-cooked sea bass on a bed of egg noodles, Chinese cabbage, baby corn and chilli. My own delicious dish, didn’t stop me from stealing mouthfuls of my partner’s perfectly cooked sirloin steak served with mushroom, tomato, onion loaf and rustic chips. Strawberry Eton Mess and homemade chocolate brownie proved divine desserts, completing a first-rate feed.
