Penzance is a Market town, situated in West Cornwall. It is also the most southerly seaside town in England. Home to Sir Humphry Davy, who on his return to England in 1815, had invented the infamous Miners Lamp (Davy Lamp).
Penzance train station is the end of the line, for UK rail travel. The main line runs direct from London Paddington, and takes approximately 6 – 7 hours to travel 330 miles by rail.
With a few high street chain shops, cafes and restaurants, Penzance offers general services including banking and a post office. Not many markets have been hosted by the town, but pride themselves with local traditions and celebration days, include Golowan Festival, held every June over 3 days.
Penzance is home to Cornish Pirates Rugby Team, dubbed ‘a true iconic Cornish brand’, competing in the Greene King IPA Championship. The club are based at Mennaye Field, Alexandra Road.
