The unit is run by highly skilled specialist nurses and are able to treat a range of minor conditions. There is also a primary care centre where a GP will be available. If you are unsure whether a GP is available, we advise you to call the unit.
Nursing staff available 8am to 10pm 7 days per week.
Minor Injury Units (MIUs) treat a range of minor conditions, which have occurred during the previous 14 days from injury, including X-ray if appropriate.
- Sprains and strains
- Broken bones
- Traumatic wound infections (not surgical wounds)
- Minor burns and scalds
- Head injuries (where the person has not been unconscious)
- Insect and animal bits and stings
- Minor eye injuries, and
- Cuts, bruising and grazes.
