Situated in beautiful surroundings, The Watermill, built in the late 18th century, nestles on the Old Coach Road in Lelant, near St Ives & Hayle, in extensive gardens with a stunning panorama across open countryside.
The Watermill was originally built by the Trevetho Estate to produce animal feed for the working horses used by the foundries and other industry in Hayle and surrounding areas during the Industrial Revolution. It continued to operate as a mill until the early 1900’s.
After years of dereliction it became the Old Mill Stables in the 1960’s. Then in the early 1970’s the building was turned into a restaurant and the mill workings, which were lying around the property, were reconstructed. Since then The Watermill has evolved into a delightful Pub & Restaurant.
It sits in beautiful natural gardens with view up the valley toward Trencrom. The mill stream that meanders through the gardens still feeds the original waterwheel which is still in operation
We are conveniently located ¼ mile from the St Ives A30 turn off and 3 minutes walk from Lelant Saltings Station.
